SKANLEZ 02-15-2010, 03:19 AM New member here hoping to be a Charger owner by this year. I currently own a 2000 Camaro SS which I will be selling in a couple months. I've been doing a lot of window shopping online for a Charger.
I'm leaning towards an R/T but really want to get an SRT8 because it just looks so mean. The extra horses is nice too :) but it also cost more. Since the exterior of the SRT8 is what catches my attention I was thinking of getting an R/T and just getting a hood and spoiler like the SRT8.
This will be my only car which I will use to commuter but work is only 4 miles away. Any tips or advice is greatly appreciated.
geteurdone 02-15-2010, 07:44 AM :th_wavey: Hi and :welcome: to The forum SKANLEZ - well with the commute only 4 miles, then the difference in mpg is not going to be a issue - now the 2011 model chargers are going to have a slightly different body style - also a lot of R/T's owner do put a SRT8 hood on and rear spoiler - again :Welcome2: aboard and keep us updates on what you decide :alien::rockon:

Hello, glad you could join us! I had the same delima and went with the R/T. The main reason I didn't go with the SRT-8, was it's need for premium gas! When you add that to bad mpg that = $$$ at the pump! My R/T averages around 20mpg. One thing you should consider when buying an R/T. Try to find an R/T that has the pereformance package (Road and Track). IMHO, it is the best of both worlds (Unless you are planning to mod your car while it is still under waranty). The Road and Track version gets you a few extra horses, better exhaust, better suspension, 20" rims and a much nicer interior (similar to SRT-8) than the standard R/T. You would still need to add the hood.

thanks for the information. Buying a new one may be too expensive for me. Once I sell my camaro ss I may be able to afford about $20k.

Great information, when looking at RT's I have an idea what to look for now. As far as mods go I would probably only out an exhaust.
geteurdone 02-15-2010, 03:16 PM well I know of someone who has a 2006 Charger R/T, stone white, CAI, exhaust (can't remember right now what kind), 160 thermostat, custom billet shifter, rear black spoiler (I helped put it on) and runs very strong who would like to sell his ride - just let me know and i will contact him
